The Board of Directors of Grass Valley Male Voice Choir is pleased to announce the appointment of Christian Gutt as Board President. Gutt succeeds John Bush who will remain on the board as Past President.
Christian moved to Nevada city in 2016 after retirement from a 25-year run with Marin County as the Senior Event Coordinator. He is currently active in producing the KVMR Celtic Festival and Co-Managing the Strawberry Music Festival. He is also an active volunteer with many Nevada County nonprofit organizations.
Grass Valley Male Voice Choir traces its roots back to the Cornish miners who came to Nevada County in the 1850s to hard rock mine for gold. They brought with them their traditions of male voice choirs. The choir has been performing for over 30 years. In 2025 the choir performed concerts at Grace Lutheran Church in May and in November. The choir sang on 12 occasions throughout the year including Saint Piran’s Day, the Celtic Festival, the Rotary Club 100th anniversary celebration, and a holiday concert at the Rood Government Center.
President Gutt is pleased that the choir is a strong social group of men who like to sing. The choir welcomes men regardless of any choral experience. Please go to our website at www.gvmalevoicechoir.org for information to contact us.

I'm thrilled for the opportunity to lead this vibrant group of singers! I believe when we sing or perform music, either individually or as a chorus, we open up ourselves to our inner most language of feeling and expression. Music is language which can express feelings from joy to sadness and grief, a language which can stir our hearts and the hearts of listeners; one which is greater than the sum of individual voices. This dynamic of collaborative dependency gives men the opportunity to open up and draw closer to each other - to richly fellowship together - as we explore diverse genres of vocal music from traditional to contemporary, Bach to the Beatles and beyond.
